Large homebuilders, such as DR Horton and MDC Holdings have been walking away from land contracts, even forfeiting deposits in some cases.
"They obviously got pretty aggressive in terms of their assumptions in the first half of the year," said a Zelman vice president. "They were bidding up deals at prices that current home prices could not support." |
